RACV – Reigate Area Conservation Volunteers
RACV is an independent voluntary group, dedicated to undertaking practical nature conservation tasks around the Reigate Area. The group was formed in 1985 to do something positive for their local environment:
- To encourage and involve people to care for their local environment.
- To undertake and promote practical management tasks which conserve and improve the character and wildlife value of the local environment.
- To promote and develop a greater understanding of, and need for, wildlife conservation.
- To maintain and promote traditional countryside skills and practises.
RACV run practical tasks most Sundays, with monthly midweek tasks.
Volunteers of all ages & backgrounds are welcome to join in and no prior experience is needed. Each task is lead by a skilled leader, and we provide training on what to do.
The RACV play a vital role in Buckland as they lead the annual pond clearance events held in the pond which forms part of Buckland’s registered village green, in the centre of the parish. The dates for the 2024 pond clearance events will be set shortly so please do come and join in at least one of the events.
